Power Hour Tutors

Help youths succeed

This educational enrichment program helps with homework and provides tutoring services. Power work sheets help members become more proficient and excel in areas such as math, science, social studies and language.

State-of-the-Art Computer Learning

State-of-the-art computer learning and tutoring centers are offered at all Boys & Girls Clubs and several Peoria Public Schools, for Kindergarten through 12th grade. Many children do not have access to home computers. these centers allow them extended time to complete computer related homework. Our goal is a team effort, between the classroom teachers, Club tutors, mentors and parents to provide every opportunity for these students to succeed.

Club Tech

Helps members and staff become effective technology users

A Club within a Club, this program integrates technology into the organization’s core program areas. Young people gain basic computer skills as well as an introduction to digital arts. The focus in the digital arts is: movie making, music making, photography, graphic design and Web development through the Digital Arts Suite. Of course, this all goes hand-in-hand with teaching Internet safety and responsibility.

CareerLaunch

Helps young people build job-search skills

Boys & Girls Clubs CareerLaunch is a career exploration and mentoring program for teens ages 13-18. Each young person works one-on-one or in small groups where Club staff help them build job-search skills, including resume writing and being job ready. Through this program they gain the confidence they need to put themselves out in the job market and pursue work opportunities. This program utilizes a packet filled with a broad range of career planning and job skills activities that Club staff or volunteers use in working with the teens. They receive tips on interviewing and on-the-spot job skills. CareerLaunch also has a website that contains an online interest survey, career exploration, education or training identification, help in finding financial aid and skills-building games.

College Preparedness

Thanks to the generous support of Toyota Financial Services and Darden Restaurants, Diplomas to Degrees (d2D), BGCA’s new college readiness program, is here! This program provides a range of services to guide Club members as they work toward high school graduation and prepare for post-secondary education and career success. The Facilitator’s Guide includes fun high-yield activities. The Teen College Guide offers tips on achieving academic success and planning for post-secondary education.
